On May 25-27 Crash (Caitlin) & Eddie (Kaeley) led a group of 5 scouts and two leaders on their Blue Cord Hike.

Comprising 2 nights camping and a little over 15 km walking in Heathcote National Park, the group enjoyed picturesque scenery and perfect late autumn weather for the hike.

Starting at Central Station on Friday night, they trained to Waterfall, then walked into Camp Coutts. A late night fire was very much enjoyed before bed. After a breakfast of pancakes cooked over the coals, they set off on the hike (not so early) at 11:15am.

Walking north towards Lake Toolooma then onto Mount Morello for lunch by the river. After climbing up Mount Mannell they passed through Python Gully then joined the fire trail.

A short delay while they corrected a wrong turn, before finding the track to Lake Eckersely and arriving at their 2nd nights campsite around 4.

After a dip in the icy waters of Lake Eckersely it was time to start up the fire to cook dinner and early to bed.
The final day they walked back to Heathcote station and trained home to hot showers. All happily tired.

So much fun to be back in the Bush with a back back!

I’d recommend Crash and Eddie to lead any expedition in familiar territory on known tracks. Especially where survival depends on copious amounts of sugary and salty snacks.
