Four scouts and three leaders left Central on Friday evening for Blackheath walking 24 km over two days.

On day one they descended via Beauchamp Falls from Evans Head lookout,

walking along the creek to stay at Acacia Flats campsite in the Bluegum Forest.

Returning on Sunday they ascended the bluff of Govetts leap in 2.5 hours, climbing over 600m.

Perfect weather, spectacular scenery and icy cold creeks to sooth sore feet, plus a bright full moon made the weekend a success.

Only one small incident clouded the blue skies: a pack accidentally dropped to the base of the falls, creating a series on ominous thumps as it fell! Pack was retrieved intact thankfully and hopefully a valuable lesson in caution was learnt.
